Arkansas added a signee at a need position on Saturday when Dodge City, Kan., Community College middle linebacker Josh Williams (6-2, 240) inked with the Razorbacks.
Williams, who was a full qualifier out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Dillard, had a team-leading 85 tackles last season at Dodge City.
"It felt great," Williams said of getting the news that his transcript had been approved by Arkansas. " Been a long wait of them reviewing. I kinda knew already that I was going to be cleared, but I just had to wait for the admissions. Everything is great. Nothing holding me back, transcripts accepted and qualified."
Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema confirmed the signing on Sunday afternoon.
"We became aware of Josh while he was at Dillard, where he was teammates with Randy Ramsey," Coach Bielema said. "Josh was a full qualifier out of high school. He is a great addition to our 2014 class who can come in and be eligible to contribute immediately. We are looking forward to having him as part of our family."
Williams is hoping to get to Arkansas soon.
"Trying to work on being there session one, but if not will be there session two of summer," Williams said.
Williams, a former Florida prep standout, is excited about working with Arkansas linebacker coach and former Miami head coach Randy Shannon.
"Feels great to play under Coach Shannon especially with him being from the South Florida area," Williams said. "He knows what he is doing because he played the position and he is going to critique me more while bettering my skills."
Williams will join former Fort Lauderdale Dillard prep star Randy Ramsey as 2014 Razorback signees.
"I called him," Williams said. "He was saying he can't wait to get to work. He feels better now because he is going up there with someone who he knows and played with."
