Is Bentonville's Kasey Ford a big quarterback or a big pitcher?
Ford (6-6, 257), who was on hand for Arkansas' Elite Football Camp Thursday, would actually like to be both in college just like he is in high school right now.
"I love baseball and I have played baseball my whole life," Ford said. "It will be a really hard decision if I have to choose because I love both sports. I am really hoping to play both in college if that is possible, but if it is not I will have to make a decision that I am not ready to make right now."
Ford, who has grown up a fan of Kansas State, was 107-of-185 for 1,846 yards and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore while leading the Tigers to the Class 7A state football title and being named the MVP of the championship game.
Arkansas joins Alabama, Missouri, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan Texas, Kansas State and Kansas among those programs showing interest but yet to offer.
"The only football offer that I know of right now is Louisville," Ford said. "I can't really tell you who is about to lay one down for me, but whoever it is, I will take it with great appreciation and it will be a blessing."
On the baseball side, there are plenty showing interest as well.
"Some of the schools showing interest are Vanderbilt, Texas, TCU, Kansas State, Arkansas and Wichita State in baseball," Ford added.
Wichita State – whose head coach now is former Razorback hitting coach Todd Butler – is the only one of those that has offered Ford a baseball scholarship to this point.
"I love Coach Butler and he is a great guy," Ford said. "Certainly if I was just planning on playing baseball, Wichita State would be number one because they have offered.
"I love Arkansas baseball, too," Ford said. "An offer from Arkansas would be a great blessing because this is a great program with great coaches. It is close to home. It would be great."
Ford moved to Bentonville from Neosho, Mo., before the seventh grade.
"The coaching staff at Bentonville has helped me out so much," Ford said. "Those guys are the smartest coaches I have ever played for in terms of working out, getting in shape and being conditioned. We have the best training and strength and conditioning coaches. We are definitely blessed in Bentonville."
