Arkansas Still on Whitfield's Radar

Spiro (Okla.) safety McKinley Whitfield missed Arkansas' Elite Camp last Thursday, but the Razorbacks remain on his radar.

Despite not attending Arkansas' Elite Camp Thursday, Spiro (Okla.) High's McKinley Whitfield remains very interested in the Razorbacks.

Whitfield (6-3, 190), a three-star athlete being evaluated at several positions by several schools, is being looked at by Arkansas as a safety.

He missed Thursday's camp because he attended a camp at Oklahoma State, but he has been in contact with Arkansas coaches and will attend a camp in July.

"I think I did pretty good at OSU," Whitfield said. "I talked to the (Arkansas) coaches about it. I'll be back next month."

While the Razorbacks have not offered him yet, he remains hopefully an offer will come.

"I've talked to the defensive coordinator on the phone before," Whitfield said. "He told me to keep working and come to camp and maybe I'll get an offer."

Whitfield said he will be at a Nike camp in Little Rock on Saturday, but until then he is staying in shape by playing basketball in a local summer league.

He has offers from programs such as Arkansas State, Army, Houston, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Minnesota, Navy, Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.
