West Blessed with Offer from Hogs

Three-star running back Charles West, from Coppell (Texas), was offered by Arkansas after a camp earlier this summer.

Coppell (Texas) High’s Charles West was offered by Arkansas after a camp earlier this summer.

The three-star running back is up to 17 offers, from schools such as BYU, Kansas State, Nevada, Texas Tech and Tulsa. His trip to Fayetteville for the camp was his first visit to Arkansas.

“It was a great experience and I enjoyed seeing the campus,” West said. “The campus is beautiful and I’m blessed to get the offer.”

While he wasn’t able to see any of Arkansas’ players during the camp, West said head coach Bret Bielema and the rest of the coaching staff impressed him.

“Just the way he runs the program,” West said, about what he liked the most about Bielema. “The coaches have a strong bond and are like a family.”

West said he sees himself fitting into the Razorbacks’ system as a running back, but he can also play slot receiver.

As a running back, he likes Arkansas’ history of producing great backs in recent years, which prompted ESPN to name the Razorbacks “Running Back U.”

“That’s a dream because they run the ball a lot,” West said.

Coppell is about 20 miles northwest of Dallas, where three-star running back and Arkansas commit Rawleigh Williams plays at Bishop Lynch High School. West said he and Williams aren’t friends, but they know each other from playing against each other in 7-on-7.

Other uncommitted running back targets in the class of 2015 from Texas include four-star Tyreik Gray (Lamar High in Houston), three-star Patrick Carr (The Woodlands High) and Braeden West (Seven Lakes High in Katy).
