Richardson Reps Arkansas At Hall Of Fame

Former Arkansas basketball coach Nolan Richardson will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Friday on NBA TV.

Nolan Richardson, the coach famous for the hardwood strategy known as“40 Minutes of Hell”, was charming, entertaining and gratified before media members on Thursday afternoon at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame press conference introducing the class of 2014 inductees.

The University of Arkansas legend first utilized the swarming defensive and fast-paced offensive tactics as a junior high school coach in west Texas. The formidable style of play produced multiple championships at three different schools.

He won the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Title at Arkansas in 1994, the 1981 NIT with Tulsa University and the 1980 National Junior College Championship with Western Texas College.

The El Paso, TX native has the distinction of being the only coach to achieve the feat of winning those three titles.

HAWGS Illustrated was in Springfield, MA to interview the lone individual associated with the University of Arkansas to become a member of the prestigious basketball sanctuary.

Nolan Richardson will be enshrined on Friday evening into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Razorback fans can view the Hall of Fame red carpet show live between 5:30 – 6:30 PM CT on NBA TV followed by the induction ceremony scheduled to air 6:30 – 9:30 PM CT.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach John Thompson ('99) and player Nate Archibald ('91) will be the presenters for Nolan Richardson.
