Haughton Looking Forward To Arkansas visit

Waco, Texas, Midway four-star safety Kahlil Hauhgton (6-2, 180) should now be able to take his official visit to Arkansas this weekend since the Razorbacks' game with Alabama has been set for a 5 p.m. start on Saturday night.

Because Arkansas’ sold-out game with Alabama this weekend is now set for 5 p.m., it appears one of the nation’s top safeties will be in attendance.

Waco, Texas, Midway star Kahlil Haughton (6-2, 180) – who had Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema and secondary coach Clay Jennings on hand for his game Friday night - said Sunday night that he should now be able to make the trip to Fayetteville.

His team practices on Saturday mornings so he needs a later game time to make his official visits.

“I still have to talk to the coaches about flights and all that, but it looks like it’s going to work out,” Haughton said. “I am looking forward to it.”

Haughton, who has some 30 offers, did take an unofficial visit to Arkansas this past summer.

“I enjoyed it, but there weren’t really any players around and so I am looking forward to being able to be around the players and the fans and just seeing how everything is,” Haughton said.

Haughton, who just recently got a new offer from Notre Dame, has already taken official visits to Oklahoma and Nebraska and has them scheduled to Texas Tech (Nov. 1) and Baylor.

He took in the Baylor’s 28-7 win over Texas in Austin on Saturday.

“I am not sure yet when I will take the Baylor one,” Haughton said. “But I am going to take all five visits and see which is the best situation for me.”

Arkansas has two senior safeties graduating and has early playing time available for Haughton if he chooses to be a Razorback.

“The coaches have let me know about that and how I could come in as a freshman and get playing time in the SEC, which is a big deal,” Haughton said. “They have made me feel very wanted and needed and will get me on the field if that is where I decide to go and I put in the work.”

He got a chance to see Arkansas’ 35-28 overtime loss to Texas A&M back on Sept. 27 – a game that included two bombs by the Aggies that sent the game into overtime.

“I have definitely been impressed with the improvement they have made,” Haughton said. “They should have won that A&M game. That would have been big to close out a top 10 team, but they just had a few mistakes down at the end of the game.

“If I end up there, maybe I can help keep those things from happening,” Haughton added. “Coach Jennings is a great guy and a great coach and I can really see myself playing for him. We have a great relationship.”

With Bielema and Jennings looking on, Midway moved to 5-0 with a 51-0 hammering of Harker Heights on Friday night.

The Panthers ripped out to a 30-0 lead by halftime and never looked back.

“We are really playing good football in every phase right now and are 5-0,” Haughton said. “We feel like we can have a great season and we are off to a good start this season.”
