Froholdt Knew Arkansas Turnaround Was Coming

Arkansas defensive line pledge Hjalte Froholdt (6-5, 295), one of at least seven commits scheduled to enroll in January, was on his official visit for the Razorbacks' 30-0 rout of No. 8 Ole Miss this weekend and it got him even more pumped about his decision to join the program.

Count Arkansas four-star defensive line pledge Hjalte Froholdt among those who knew that the Razorbacks were going to get things turned around sooner than later.

The Denmark-born Froholdt (6-5, 295), fresh off a standout senior season at Bradenton, Fla., IMG Academy, was on his official visit during Arkansas’ 30-0 win over No. 8 Ole Miss on Saturday.

“It was just an amazing game,” Froholdt said. “All three phases of the game were on point and fired up. Offense was moving the ball well and the defense was just relentless.

“It’s Ole Miss, who does have a good and explosive offense, they’re going to get a few plays, but the defense executed when it needed to,” Froholdt added.

“If it was a three-and-out, stop in the red zone or a turnover.

“It was an amazing game and I knew Arkansas would pull it off,” Froholdt continued. “They play with a lot more enthusiasm and heart. Can’t wait to get their in January.”

Indeed Froholdt, who had 58 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 12 stops for lost yardage this season, is one of at least seven current Arkansas commits expected as early enrollees in January.

He hopes that New Smyrna Beach, Fla., offensive lineman Jalen Merrick (6-5, 310) - who was also on his official visit this past weekend - will be a member of the Razorbacks’ 2015 recruiting class.

“We were together almost all the whole time,” Froholdt said. “He’s a great guy and a great player. I think Arkansas has a high chance of getting him.”

Froholdt is not surprised about the turnaround experienced by Arkansas (6-6) under head coach Bret Bielema, who first Razorback team was 3-9.

“I knew it was just a matter of time,” Froholdt said. “He gets great people to join the staff, who’s on a mission. It didn’t surprise me.”

Froholdt recently signed his Financial Aid-Agreement with the Razorbacks which allowed Bielema to talk about him under NCAA rules.

“Hjalte possesses all the uncommon qualities we look for in a Razorback,” Bielema added. “We’re ecstatic to welcome him to Fayetteville and the Razorback family. He brings physicality on the field and embodies the qualities off the field that we look for in our men.

"Hjalte and our early-signees are helping to shape the future of Arkansas football," Bielema added. "Hjalte brings an unusual story from Denmark to Fayetteville and I feel he will only add to it moving forward.”
