Allen: Arkansas is Dream Come True

Arkansas offensive line commit Josh Allen (6-3, 305) made his first trek to campus this weekend and left raving about what his college choice has to offer.

Arkansas turned out to be everything that Josh Allen had dreamed it would be.

Allen (6-3, 305) was the only one of eight committed prospects that took official visits to Arkansas this weekend that had never been to campus.

He pledged to Arkansas strictly on the strength of Razorback head coach Bret Bielema and offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

It was everything I expected,” Allen said Sunday at the conclusion of his visit. “The people around here, the atmosphere, it’s just awesome. I’m just really excited to get up here.”

Allen, who originally signed with North Carolina, will arrive in early January.

“January 8th, I believe,” Allen said. So I’ll have time to go around, look at the campus, do orientation and stuff like that.”

That campus is something to be thrilled about noted Allen, one of 18 current commits in a 2015 class that is ranked 16th nationally by

“It’s awesome,” Allen said. “It’s just something about the buildings, the professors, I really liked it. I’m very excited to get up here.”

He called his mom to let her know how excited he was about Arkansas - which in turn got her excited.

“She was definitely excited. She was like, ‘You better bring me some pictures back.’ I said, ‘Yes ma’am, I got you.’”

Allen’s host for the weekend were Arkansas sophomore offensive linemen Denver Kirkland and Dan Skipper.

“They said they really liked it and once I go back home, I’m going to be wanting to come back,” Allen said. “ They said it’s fun. They said Coach Pittman is not a mean coach at all, he just wants the best for you and wants to give you his best. I’m pretty excited.”

Allen said that Pittman has talked to him about playing a couple of positions once he arrives.

“He’s debating offensive guard or center,” Allen said. “ Either or, he thinks I’ll do pretty good.”

Allen joined the Fayetteville duo of CJ O’Grady and Dre Greenlaw, Dumas tight end Will Gragg, Fort Smith Northside defensive end Daytrieon Dean, Conway offensive lineman Colton Jackson, Highland wideout Deon Stewart, Dallas Bishop Lynch tailback Rawleigh Williams as official visitors this weekend.
