Moore Among Holiday Hoops Headliners

North Little Rock junior Adrian Moore (6-4, 180) will be among the talented underclassman on display Saturday at the Arkansas Holiday Hoops Invitational, a six-game event beginning at 10:30 a.m. at North Little Rock High School

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - Several of the state’s top underclassmen basketball players will be among the plethora of talented players on hand for today’s Holiday Hoops Challenge at North Little Rock High School.

That group includes 6-10 Van Buren center Mitchell Smith, 6-4 North Little Rock guard Adrian Moore and 6-4 Pulaski Academy guard Lawson Korita, 6-10 El Dorado sophomore Daniel Gaffords and 7-2 freshman Connor Vanover.

Smith - whose team will take on Moore’s North Little Rock one at 4:30 p.m. - has an Arkansas offer while the others are getting long looks from the Razorbacks.

“There is a lot of great young talent in the state,” Moore said. “It should be fun.”

Moore has offers from Wake Forest and Tulsa and is hoping one eventually comes from Arkansas and head coach Mike Anderson.

“Arkansas is definitely at the top of my list, especially the way Coach Anderson has turned the program around,” Moore said. “All those guys are starting to click…They are doing really good and I have been really impressed with how they are playing this season.”

Wake Forest head coach Danny Manning stopped by North Little Rock to see Moore before his Demon Deacons lost 83-53 to Arkansas on Nov. 19 in Fayetteville.

“They are probably my hardest recruiters right now,” Moore said of the Demon Deacons. “He (Manning) stopped by practice before they played Arkansas. It is picking up a lot and more to come I am sure.”

The event will get underway at 10:30 a.m. with Morrilton facing Monticello while Arkansas Baptist and El Dorado will meet at noon.

Little Rock Christian battles Pulaski Academy at 1:30 p.m. with Jonesboro and Springdale tangling at 3:30 p.m.

The final two games feature the aforementioned North Little Rock-Van Buren match-up at 4:30 and Little Rock Parkview and Fort Smith Northside in the finale at 6 p.m.
