The Bryant (Ark.) High defensive tackle has been in close contact with Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr., who he has talked to on the phone as recently as last week.
“He’s supposed to come down and watch me during the spring,” Murray said. “I think they’re close to offering. I just need to show them a little more my senior season and they’ll come with an offer, hopefully.”
Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and North Texas are his only three offers, but Arizona, Houston, Memphis and Tulsa are showing a lot of interest.
However, an offer from the Razorbacks would mean a lot to Murray, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 280 pounds.
“They’re an in-state school and a major program,” Murray said. “They have a good reputation for getting guys to the NFL. (Last season) showed me they’re ready to play and they’re getting after it.
“The coaches are down-to-earth and they’re trying to build a good program. It’d be a good school to go to.”
This spring, he attended Memphis and Tulsa’s junior days, but he said he is hoping to come up to Fayetteville this summer.
“I need to check the dates, but I plan on coming up for a camp,” Murray said.
