Kelley, a Lafayette Teurlings Catholic standout that passed for 3,001 yards and 31 touchdowns last season as a junior, pledged to Arkansas on Saturday after an unofficial visit.
“I actually didn’t think that I would commit anywhere until the spring was over and maybe into the summer, but pretty soon after I got to Arkansas, I just realized it was the perfect place for me,” Kelley said.
“It’s just a great place that has fantastic facilities, great coaches and players and it’s just a really nice place. It hit me that this was it not too long after I arrived.”
Oklahoma State, Kentucky and seven other schools, arrived in Fayetteville on Friday with his mother and sister.
The trio got a chance to tour the campus and the facilities and take in a practice on Saturday.
“The first thing I thought about is how big the offensive line is,” Kelley said. “I’ve never seen anything like that. As a quarterback, you can feel pretty safe with those guys.
“There is so much talent out there and I know the program is about to be a surprise team this year and really challenge for the top. I’m happy I’m going to be a part of a program that I think has a great future.”
Kelley was 198-of-368 passing last season for 3,001 yards with 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

That got the attention of Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema, offensive coordinator Dan Enos and assistant coach Michael Smith, who is in charge of recruiting Louisiana.
“I told both Coach Enos and Coach Smith - who are great guys - on Friday that I was thinking this was the place for me,” Kelley said. “I met with Coach Bielema on Saturday and let him know I was ready.
“He was very happy and very excited to welcome me to the family. It’s a great feeling.”
