The Razorbacks beat Missouri State 18-4 Friday to win the first game of the NCAA super regional in front of a Baum Stadium record 11,869 fans.
Arkansas will go for the series win Saturday at 1 p.m.
Andrew Benintendi and Joe Serrano hit home runs during a six-run sixth inning that broke the game open for the Razorbacks (39-22). Arkansas chased Missouri State starter Jon Harris in the inning in which the Razorbacks sent nine batters to the plate.
Harris, a right-hander projected to be a first-round MLB Draft pick next week, gave up eight runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Harris didn't allow a base runner in the first three innings.
Missouri State led 1-0 after Jake Burger's solo home run in the second inning. The Bears recorded 11 hits off Arkansas starter Trey Killian, but could only manage to score three runs in six innings against the Razorbacks right-hander.
Arkansas put its first four batters on base in the fourth inning to take control. Tyler Spoon's two-run single gave the Razorbacks the lead and Clark Eagan added a sacrifice fly to score Benintendi, who was intentionally walked.
Serrano had an RBI double in the fifth inning to extend Arkansas' lead to 4-1. The senior finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and 4 RBIs.
Benintendi led off the sixth inning with his 19th home run of the season, tying him for the national lead. Brett McAfee and Tucker Pennell each had RBI hits in the inning before Serrano's three-run home run with two outs to give Arkansas a 10-1 lead.
The Razorbacks scored two more runs in the seventh inning and six runs in the eighth. Missouri State used five pitchers.
James Teague and Lance Phillips each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for Arkansas. Jacob Stone gave up one run in the ninth inning.
