Hogs Ranked 20th by Coaches

Bret Bielema's third Arkansas team starts the season in the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll. The Hogs are ranked 20th.

Five SEC teams are rated higher, but Arkansas is one of eight league teams to open in the first Amway USA Today Coaches Poll released Thursday. The Razorbacks are 20th.

Defending national champ Ohio State tops the poll. Defending SEC champ Alabama is third. Other SEC teams ranked are Auburn (7th), Georgia (9th), LSU (13th), Ole Miss (15th), Arkansas (20th), Missouri (23rd) and Tennessee (25th). Arkansas plays all of those except Georgia.

It's the first time for the Hogs to be ranked in the Bret Bielema coaching era. The Hogs finished 7-6 last season, winning three of their final four games, including a 31-7 victory over Texas in the bowl game. The Razorbacks became the first unranked team in college football history to shut out back-to-back ranked opponents when they blanked No. 20 LSU and No. 8 Ole Miss.
