Hunter Loves What He Sees At Arkansas

Arkansas had the opportunity to host Philadelphia. Pa., Friends Central shooting guard DeAndre Hunter (6-7, 180) this weekend on an unofficial visit and he left impressed with what he got to see.

It’s a long way from Philadelphia to Fayetteville, but it’s a trip that DeAndre Hunter made this weekend and plans to make again this fall.

Hunter (6-7, 180), a standout shooting guard for Philadelphia Friends Central with 21 offers, took an unofficial visit to Arkansas the past couple of days.

“Loved the visit,” Hunter said Sunday. “I really like their program. Their coaches are real and don’t just tell you BS like coaches at a lot of schools do.

“They have a great arena and their new practice facility is just fantastic. That’s a big attraction. It is really nice. You also can tell what great fans they have. I was just really impressed with everything.”

Hunter has offers from Arkansas, Virginia, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Maryland, UMass, St. John’s Oklahoma State, UNLV, Miami, Penn State, Rutgers and many others.

“I have not really started to narrow it down yet, but I am going to do that soon and make a decision on where I take my official visits,” Hunter said. “Arkansas, they have been on me for while and will definitely get one.”

He has been to see Arkansas, St. John’s, Temple and St. John’s and plans to see UConn, Virginia and Maryland soon.

“I’ve very blessed to have a lot of great schools,” Hunter said. “I think I played pretty well in AAU and that has set me up with a lot of opportunities.”

Hunter had a very good spring and summer playing AAU basketball for Philly Pride and capped it off with a solid showings at the Under Armour finals and then in Las Vegas in late July.

“I feel like I shoot the ball well and can get to the rim, but I need to work on getting stronger and my ball handling,” Hunter said. “You can always get better at everything.”
