Miami, Fla., Central defensive end Keir Thomas has a trio of finalists and a rather short time to make up his mind on the school that will be his college destination.
Thomas (6-2, 250), a mid-term graduate who will enroll in college in January, took his official visit to Arkansas this past weekend.
He took his official visit from Saturday through Monday after Miami Central clinched a spot in the state championship game by downing Naples 41-21 last Friday.
“I really had a great visit,” Thomas said. “I felt really comfortable at Arkansas and they have some great coaches and great facilities. I also really like the atmosphere there.”
Thomas, a one-time Florida State transfer who does not yet have a set date to decide, is down to Arkansas, Auburn and Tennessee - all schools that he has visited.
“I have some great schools to choose from and I feel very blessed about that,” Thomas said.
Thomas feels like the Arkansas program is poised for a great future.
“You can just it is going up by what they have done there so far,” Thomas said. “They have gotten better every year and improved throughout the season every year.
“I think they are rising to the top and have the coaches to get them there.”
Central (12-2), the three-time defending state champion, will take on unbeaten Armwood (14-0) at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando in the title game at 1:07 p.m. “We have been playing really well and it should be a great game,” Thomas said. “We always go in expecting to win.”
