Arkansas Coaches Pushing Toward Recruiting Finish Line

The NCAA football recruiting dead period will end Thursday night and Arkansas coaches will be right back at it on Thursday as the 2016 recruiting class heads for the Feb. 3 national signing date

Arkansas coaches can get back on the road Thursday when the dead period ends and there’s a few new names to factor into the 2016 recruiting class.

The Razorbacks are expected to visit San Bernardino Valley College offensive lineman Paul Ramirez (6-7, 295) on Thursday while Coffeyville, Kan., Community College linebacker Eldridge Thompson (6-1, 220).

Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos and possibly new offensive line coach Kurt Anderson are expected to go see Ramirez on Thursday.

Ramirez is set to take an official visit to Louisville this weekend and has one scheduled to Indiana the following week that he may not keep.

Thompson had a team-leading 102 tackles for Coffeyville this season with three sacks, four tackles for lost yardage and scored touchdowns on both a fumble recovery and an interception.

The Razorback staff visited him in December.

One of those is Greenwood linebacker Grant Morgan (5-11, 225), brother of current Razorback wide receiver Drew Morgan.

Some of the others expected to be on hand are Maumelle offensive lineman Tyler Hall, Farmington tailback Justice Hobbs and North Little Rock wideout Tobias Enlow, who got his preferred walk on offer from Arkansas on Monday.

The Razorbacks are not bringing in any official visitors this weekend and instead loading up on the Jan. 22-24 weekend with 10-12 prospects expected and also bringing in some on the final weekend of Jan. 29-31.

One of the prospects expected in the Jan. 22-24 weekend is Razorback commit De’Jon Harris (6-1, 238) of Marrero, La., John Ehret.

Harris will join some of his teammates in taking a visit to Colorado this weekend and then will finish up with trips to Arkansas and Alabama, who offered him in late December.

Arkansas lost a commitment on Sunday when Manvel, Texas, linebacker Jordan Carmouche re-opened his recruitment.

Carmouche reportedly wants to play running back in college even though he did not have a carry this season.
