Michael Bernal hit two home runs and No. 22 Arkansas beat No. 18 Houston 12-3 Saturday at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
The Razorbacks (7-0) beat a top 25 team for the second consecutive day at the Shriners Hospitals for Children's College Classic. Arkansas is scheduled to play Texas Tech on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Bernal hit a two-run home run off Houston starter John King in the second inning to give the Razorbacks a 3-1 lead. He added a three-run home run off Cougars reliever Nick Hernandez to extend Arkansas' lead to 8-1 in the third inning.
Bernal's second home run capped a five-run inning for the Razorbacks. Austin Catron had an RBI hit as a pinch-hitter in the previous at-bat.
Catron finished the game 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.
Carson Shaddy added a two-run home run in the eighth inning. After failing to hit a home run in their first two games, the Razorbacks have hit 10 home runs in their last five.
Arkansas overcame a short start by freshman pitcher Blaine Knight, who was pulled after giving up a leadoff single in the third inning. Knight allowed a run on four hits and struck out three batters.
James Teague earned the win by striking out four in two innings of scoreless relief. The Razorbacks threw seven pitchers, who struck out 12 batters and scattered 11 hits.
First baseman Joe Davis went 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored for Houston (4-2).
