Ashdown junior safety Montaric Brown got his first look at on-campus look at Arkansas’ football program on Saturday and left with an offer from the Razorbacks.
Brown (6-1, 180, 4.5) was one of at least six prospects on campus Saturday - five juniors and one sophomore - and is the second 2017 in-state prospect to get an offer along with Razorback pledge Jarrod Barnes of Cabot.
“It was awesome,” Brown said. “I loved everything about it - the facilities, the coaches, the atmosphere. I just impressed with everything that have at Arkansas.”
Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema joined Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State and Arkansas State in putting an offer on the table for Brown.
“I thought it was coming," Brown said, "but when Coach Bielema told me about it, it was just a great feeling. I grew up a Razorback fan so it is something that I have really wanted and I am honored to get it.”
Brown had 122 tackles last season and five interceptions - three of which he took back to the house for touchdowns.
He admitted his head was spinning from all the offers he has received in the past two weeks.
“I love Arkansas, but I am going to wait awhile before I commit somewhere,” Brown said. “I just want to be sure about everything.”
