2017 OL Clenin Commits To Arkansas

Arkansas had several recruits on hand for Saturday's scrimmage, including Missouri prep junior offensive lineman Shane Clenin (6-6, 285), who became the seventh pledge of the Razorbacks 2017 recruiting class when he committed later in the day.

Festus, Mo., junior offensive line Shane Clenin (6-6, 285) thought he might commit to a college before the summer started and that’s exactly what he ending up doing.

Clenin pledged to Arkansas on Saturday afternoon after finishing up his second visit to Fayetteville in three weeks.

The Jefferson High standout, who wants to major in engineering and has a 3.92 grade point average, got to take in more of the campus this time around.

“I just had another great visit and got to go over the engineering program and was already very excited about the football program,” Clenin said. “It just seems like home to me and I just didn’t see any reason on waiting to commit and just wanted to go ahead and get it over with today.”

Clenin becomes the Razorbacks’ seventh overall pledge of the 2017 class and the third offensive lineman to pledge.

“I got a chance to be in a meeting with the offensive lineman on Friday, a longer one than I was in before and just really liked the way they go over things and go about their business,” Clenin said.

He is excited about the opportunity he will have to work under new Razorbacks offensive line coach Kurt Anderson, who Clenin says did a cartwheel when the player told him of his commitment.

“You can tell from watching him in practice and seeing him in the meetings that he really knows what he is doing,” Clenin said. “It has me very excited about my opportunity to grow and develop underneath him.”

Clenin had offers from Arkansas, Northwestern, Iowa State, New Mexico, Colorado State and others.
