Arkansas added a commit from an Indiana prep basketball star on Tuesday and could add one of the state’s top high school players as a walk on in the next couple of days.
Columbia City, IN, three-star small forward Brachen Hazen (6-7, 200), currently on his official visit, initially announced his pledge to the Razorbacks via twitter.
“I committed because of the great people and facilities, noted Hazen, who changed d his twitter picture to one of Arkansas’ practice facility upon his pledge. “Also I like the surroundings of the University and the people around the community.”
Hazen, who averaged 16.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season, chose Arkansas over Vanderbilt, Purdue and Ball State and others.
He is slated to become the sixth Razorback signee of the 2016 class and the second of the April 13-May 18 spring signing period.
Arkansas could also add 5-10 Forest City point guard Robert Glasper, who averaged 28 points as a senior and took an unofficial visit to Fayetteville on Thursday.
“It went well,” Glasper said. “I got a chance to see the campus, talk to the coaches and workout with the players.”
Glasper – who had 59 points in one game his senior season and led his team to the - has offers from UAPB, Harding and Arkansas Tech, but is considering walk on at Arkansas.
“I just believe that I can play on that level and that I can play myself into earning a scholarship,” Glasper said. “I’ll know for sure what I want to do in the next couple of days.”
