Ashdown's Brown Down To Seven

Arkansas is one of the final seven schools alive for Ashdown safety Montaric Brown (6-1, 180), arguably the state's best junior prospect.

Arguably the state’s top 2017 high school football player now has a Select Seven to go along with his decision date.

Ashdown safety Montaric Brown (6-1, 180) - one of four in-state juniors the Razorbacks have offered this recruiting cycle - tweeted out his top seven on Tuesday afternoon.

Those seven are Arkansas, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Baylor.

Brown, who also has offers from Arkansas State, Tulsa and Texas San-Antonio, has plans to announce his decision on his birthday on Aug. 24th.

He has hosted Arkansas, Alabama and others at his school the past couple of weeks.

has been quoted as saying the Razorbacks are his leader after his visit for the Arkansas Red-White game on April 23.

“I loved it,” Brown said. It really feels like home to me. I felt comfortable and the players, coaches and fans really made me feel like I was a Hog already.”

He had 112 tackles last season, 5 interceptions (3 he returned for touchdowns), 4 tackles for lost yardage, 8 pass break ups and a forced fumble.

Brown got a chance to visit with Razorback head coach Bret Bielema, defensive coordinator Robb Smith and new secondary coach Paul Rhoads, the former Iowa State head coach.

“I really have a great feeling being around those coaches and know they care a lot about me,” Brown said. “Coach B has made it clear to me how much he wants me to be a part of the program and how important of a recruit that I am to him.

“I also got a chance to meet with Coach Rhodes and really like him. He really knows what he is doing and I know he will be a great coach for me.”
