It only took Arkansas a few days to get back to having nine commitments.
Mississippi Gulf Coast College wide receiver Jonathan Nance (6-2, 180), who started his career at Southern Mississippi, pledged to the Razorbacks on Tuesday afternoon.
Nance, who chose Arkansas over Colorado State and Troy, caught 31 passes for 400 yards for three touchdowns last season and becomes the ninth commit of the 2017 class for the Razorbacks.
""I just went ahead and committed," Nance told the Sun Herald newspaper. "It was really my first big offer and from an SEC school. The coaches have been loving me a lot so I thought it would be a good decision to go ahead and commit.
"It feels great that I made a good decision."
Arkansas had earlier had nine commitments before Marrero, La., John Ehret offensive lineman DeWayne Fisher re-opened his recruitment last week.
Nance graduated early and signed with Southern Miss to play wide receiver, but was instead put at cornerback and left the school after a semester.
He is on course to be a December graduate this time as well and is one of four Gulf Coast prospects in the 2017 class that Arkansas has offered.
"My hard work paid off," Nance said. "(The Arkansas coaches) were keeping everything real and straight to the point about how I fit in. I feel like I proved I could play receiver instead of defensive back.
"I just like scoring and making plays."
