Arkansas senior tight end Jeremy Sprinkle has been named to the 2016 John Mackey Award watch list that was announced Wednesday.
The John Mackey Award is given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end in the nation.
Last season, consensus first-team All-American and now San Diego Chargers' tight end Hunter Henry took home the award. Arkansas is the only school to produce multiple John Mackey Award winners, including D.J. Williams in 2010.
Sprinkle returns to Arkansas after an overlooked 2015 season in which he caught 27 passes for 389 yards and lead all SEC tight ends with six receiving touchdowns, compared to Henry's three touchdowns. All six touchdowns came during the final seven games of the season.
The 6-foot-6-inch tight end's junior season included 16 receptions that went for at least 10 yards, including seven for 20 yards or more.
After Henry's departure, Sprinkle should see more targets next season.
The winner of the award will be announced Dec. 7.
