Arkansas worked two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon on the grass practice field. Houston Nutt said the Hogs worked against Alabama's option offense, and the Tide's defensive scheme.
"We worked against the option again," said Houston Nutt, the Hogs' head coach. "You have to cover all the assignments. And, we got a good look of it with Matt Jones and Tarvaris Jackson. They've been schooled in the option in our fall practices, so the simulation was good for our defense."
The Hogs looked at the same combinations in the offensive line for the third straight day. On the first line, Shawn Andrews was at right tackle, Mark Bokermann at right guard and Kenny Sandlin at center.
"We are still evaluating that combination," Nutt said. "And, we are still looking at Jason Peters at tight end. We'll check him out on Thursday to see if he can play there. We'll see what he knows and make a call about whether to use him in the game."
Nutt was asked if he planned to work in the stadium where they can pipe in noise on Thursday to simulate Alabama's huge crowd.
"We've done that before, but I don't think we will this time," Nutt said. "We've gotten everything prepared for Ryan Sorahan to play in front of a big crowd on the road. We feel good about Ryan's preparations."
There were no injuries, but nose tackle Curt Davis did miss a few snaps with a sore back. He will be fine for Saturday's game.
It appears that Fred Talley will get the start at tailback after handling the bulk of the snaps with the first team.
"I don't know how we will split them up in the game," Nutt said. "We've got three healthy backs, which is good. We'll start out with Fred and see what develops. We will play the hot back."
