Arkansas Razorbacks offer talented APB Slade Bolden

Arkansas has offered one of the most versatile recruits in Louisiana.

Arkansas extended an offer to West Monroe (La.) 3-star all-purpose back Slade Bolden on March 10. The speedster had shown off his skills at an Arkansas camp this past summer. Michael Smith and the Razorbacks rewarded him with an offer to join the Class of 2018.

Bolden is a versatile athlete who can run with the football or catch it. He is rated as an all-purpose back at 247Sports, but could be looking at another position if he signs with the Razorbacks.

"I'm sure they want me at slot but Coach Smith never specifically said," Bolden said.

You have several offers from some very good schools, but the Razorbacks extended that one this past Friday what did it mean to you?

"I was very thankful," Bolden said. "I have wanted that offer for awhile."

Smith is Bolden's lead recruiter. Bolden got to know Smith very well through the camp and has seen him coming to West Monroe High School recruiting ever since he has been at Arkansas.

"I love coach Smith," Bolden said. "He has always made me feel at home when I'm around him.

What kind of junior season did you have?

"A great junior season," Bolden said. "Broke the West Monroe rushing record in a game. I also lead my team to a state championship game."

Indeed it was a great season for Bolden who played quarterback, wide receiver, running back, kick returner and defensive back. He rushed for 1,370 yards and 25 touchdowns while passing for 906 yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. He also caught 15 passes for 248 yards and four touchdowns. The game that probably stands out for him was in the LHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals. Bolden led West Monroe to a victory by rushing 23 times for 281 yards and five touchdowns.

Bolden listed his current favorite schools.

"4. No specific order but TCU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Washington, Utah and Arkansas," Bolden said.

You camped in Fayetteville last summer, but are there any plans to take an unofficial there at some point this spring or summer?

"Yes I would like too again," Bolden said.

What are your strengths on the football field?

"Probably running but just being to make any play happen," Bolden said.
