Otis' Thursday Arkansas Razorback Chatter

Arkansas has four talented commitments they will have to hold on to until February. In addition, the state is blessed with some good talent on the offensive line.

This is a new article what will appear daily during the week on Hawgs247 and the Hawgs Daily. It will be my thoughts on things recruiting and team related with the Razorbacks as well as some thoughts on some of the in-state talent.

*** On March 14, Carterville (Ill.) 3-star tight end Luke Ford committed to Arkansas. No one expected other schools to stop recruiting him and they haven't. 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong even speculated recently Ford could take some other trips later on. On Wednesday LSU became the 21st offer for Ford. The standout has a very good chance to be moved to a 4-star. He received an invited to The Opening this summer with an outstanding showing at The Opening Chicago this past weekend. Ford is the top tight end on Arkansas' recruiting wish list.

*** Arkansas can't take them all, but the in-state class for 2018 offensive linemen is a very good one. Pulaski Academy's Luke Jones was offered by Virginia on Wednesday and today he is at Mississippi State. He now has six offers. Texas State Coach Eric Mateos has offered many of the offensive linemen in the state. He is set to begin his first year as offensive line coach for the Bobcats. Some of the other top offensive linemen in Arkansas in 2018 are Lake Hamilton's Will Burgess, Jonesboro's Noah Gatlin, Pocahontas' Jake Hardage and Blytheville's Larry Clark among others. Burgess was at Arkansas this past weekend for an unofficial visit.

*** The Razorbacks offered Class of 2018 4-star running back Tavion Thomas from Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar. He holds 27 offers and his Crystal Ball is 100-percent for Ohio State.

*** The question is always who will be the next in-state player offered in 2018 by the Hogs? Among the possibilities would have to be Joe T. Robinson athlete Nathan Page, Fordyce defensive lineman Billy Ferrell, Charleston athlete Sean Michael Flanagan, Springdale defensive end Isaiah Nichols or Burgess. Maybe someone else emerges as an offer in spring ball or summer camps, but right now that would seem like to be among the best bets.
