A pair of former Arkansas players are projected by Pro Football Focus to be picked in the third round of the NFL Draft later this month.
The analytics website has defensive end Deatrich Wise going to the Chicago Bears with the 67th overall pick and tight end Jeremy Sprinkle going to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 105th overall pick in its three-round mock draft released Wednesday.
According to PFF's film study, Wise had 18 sacks, 26 quarterback hits and 48 hurries on only 647 pass rushes over the last three years, which is "incredible" production. He is the 12th edge rusher off the board in the three-round mock draft, with the first 11 going in the first 35 picks.
Sprinkle is projected to be the seventh tight end drafted. Pro Football Focus notes that he is still a "developing run-blocker," but his pass-catching ability and size make him a solid option in the deep class at the position.
Those draft positions are not too far off from their ranking on PFF's big board, as Wise and Sprinkle are No. 62 and No. 100 overall, respectively.
The 2017 NFL Draft begins with the first round on April 27 in Philadelphia. The second and third rounds are on April 28, followed by rounds 4-7 on April 29.
