Otis' Arkansas Razorback Recruiting Chatter, Friday, May 12

Arkansas is recruiting Texas extremely hard. The Hogs have two commitments there and are searching for more.

Arkansas is offering prospects at a very fast clip. One thing many fans have clamored for is the Hogs to recruit Texas harder. It appears Arkansas is doing that.

If nothing else, it appears Arkansas is not only recruiting the Lone Star State harder, but having more success there. The Hogs have four commitments in the Class of 2018 with half of them coming from Texas. Lucas Lovejoy 4-star linebacker Bumper Pool and DeSoto 4-star athlete BJ Hanspard have both said yes to Arkansas offers.

According to the 247Sports database, Arkansas has a reported 132 offers out in 2018 with 26 in Texas. In 2019, it shows 23 offers out with eight from Texas. Both those are the most offers from any state for that particular year.

The Hogs have some very interesting prospects for 2019 with both Houston St. Pius X 4-star quarterback Grant Gunnell and Dallas Bishop Dunne 5-star safety Brian Williams.

Both have been on the campus multiple times. Among the other offers from Texas in 2019 who are known to have visited at least once are Bishop Dunne 4-star athlete Marquez Beason, Rockwall 3-star safety Anfernee Orji and Stafford 4-star wide receiver Jalen Curry.

Sign It Early

Pool, Hanspard and Greenwood (Ark.) 4-star quarterback Connor Noland will use the 72-hour window from Dec. 20-22 to sign with the Hogs. The three are committed to the Hogs and want to get the recruiting out of the way.

Cartersville (Ill.) 4-star tight end Luke Ford will sign with the Hogs on Feb. 7.

Noland and the Bulldogs are in Benton this weekend trying to start their path to the Class 6A state baseball title.

A Good One

A Class of 2019 recruit who holds an Arkansas offer is Bentonville (Ark.) West wide receiver Jadon Jackson. He held offers from Tulsa and Arkansas prior to yesterday. He added Arizona State and Memphis on Thursday. Jackson is a speedster who can be a good one at the next level.

Springdale (Ark.) Class of 2018 defensive end Isaiah Nichols added Tulsa on Tulsa. Nichols is compiling a pretty good offer list as time goes along. Jonesboro (Ark.) Class of 2019 4-star offensive tackle Darius Thomas is now up to 11 offers with Indiana joining the chase on Thursday. Ole Miss offered on Tuesday. Arkansas has also offered Thomas and he took an unofficial visit to Fayetteville in the spring.

Wynne (Ark.) Class of 2018 defensive end Logan Jessup was offered by Southeastern Missouri State on Thursday.

In addition to Thomas and Jackson, the Hogs have also offered Pulaski Academy 4-star tight end Hudson Henry and Warren 4-star wide receiver Treylon Burks in 2019 inside the state.
