Arkansas has offered one of the nation's top defensive tackles. The Hogs are just one of many schools in pursuit of him.
Arkansas has joined the pursuit of Amite (La.) Class of 2019 5-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher. The Razorbacks offered him on Thursday.
Sopsher has offers from many of the nation's top teams, but what did the offer from Arkansas mean to you?
"The offer means a lot to me because the Arkansas Razorbacks is one of the most elite SEC teams," Sopsher said. "And for them to offer me means that they can see great potential in me and I'm grateful for that."
He holds SEC offers from Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi State. Tennessee and Texas A&M in addition to the Razorbacks. Among the non-SEC teams who have offered are Penn State, Florida State, Clemson, Memphis and Miami. That's many of the nation's elite teams. What are your strengths that has caused that list of schools to offer you?
"I'm a very coachable kid," Sopsher said. "A fast learner, aggressive, athletic, quick off the ball, physical and mentally tough and a great pass rusher."
Sopsher is rated the No. 2 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2019 by 247Sports. So he obviously played as a sophomore. How do you feel it went?
"It went great," Sopsher said. "I felt like I did everything that I needed to do, but it's still some things that I need to improve on."
With the obvious long list of college options and more likely coming weekly and monthly, what are you looking for in a school?
"Academics and a place that I can call home," Sopsher said.
Sopsher also is hoping to get to Arkansas for an unofficial visit.
"Yeah sure that's something that I will be trying to work on," Sopsher said.
