Is Matt Jones Going to Play?

Houston Nutt addressed the questions about Matt Jones' status after the Hogs completed a light workout in Austin on Friday. Is Matt Jones hurt?

Arkansas quarterback Matt Jones practiced at quarterback in a light workout in Austin and looked sharp and moved around with zip. That is from an eyewitness account at 1:15 p.m. Friday who said, "He moved around pretty darn good." Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt addressed the gathered media at the stadium and was asked about Matt's condition. "Matt has had a sore hip flexor for quite some time," Nutt said. "He's going to play and he'll be fine on Saturday." Those who saw Matt practice at the stadium on Friday agree with the head coaches' assessment. Players were off limits to the media, per the usual rules, so no one talked to Jones. One thing that was funny was that Craig O'Neill asked Nutt to comment on the "report coming out of Northwest Arkansas." Nutt responded, "There's too much information coming out of Northwest Arkansas." There was a report early Friday on a Ft. Smith radio station that said Jones had a possible groin pull and a hip flexor injury and that he would probably not be able to play against Texas on Saturday. The UA Practice on Thursday were closed to the media, but sources with the team did reveal Friday that Jones did go through some portions of Thursday's workout. The radio report said Jones suffered the injury on Wednesday and that he was unable to do more than walk on Thursday. That report was denied by team officials on Friday afternoon.
