Arkansas worked for about 70 minutes in shorts and helmets as the Hogs polished their game plan for Saturday night's nonconference game with Weber State at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Houston Nutt was excused from his regular duties with the media to attend his son's junior high football game. Quarterback coach David Lee stepped in for Nutt, fielding questions about the game and the week's workout.
"I'm not sure we were as sharp today as we were last Thursday," Lee said. "Part of it might have been the wind. It was really blowing and some balls got away from the quarterbacks today. Last Thursday, we were pretty much perfect.
"But, this has been a good week of practice. I think Zak Clark has looked good at quarterback."
The Hogs probably won't have Ryan Sorahan against Weber State. Sorahan, who missed last week with a bruised back, did not practice, although he did try some long passes on the side.
"Ryan will dress out and we'll take a look at him in warmups, but it doesn't look like he can play right now," Lee said. "We have Zak and Tarvaris (Jackson) ready to go. We'd like to get Tarvaris some plays, but we won't know if that's possible until we get to the game and see what happens."
The Hogs tried to get Matt Jones some work at quarterback earlier in the week, but the lanky wide receiver sustained a pulled groin and that plan was scrapped.
"He was real sore the last two days, so we left him at wide receiver," Lee said. "We'd like to do some things with Matt at quarterback, but we need to get him healthy."
Clark thought the Hogs practiced well this week, and he expects them to play well.
"I know today wasn't my best, but we did good this week," Clark said. "I think we will play well. We just have to go out and have some fun."
Lee said the Hogs' goal was to eliminate turnovers.
"We almost did that last week, with one turnover," Lee said. "We want to avoid putting the ball on the ground, eliminate minus yardage plays and try to be consistent. That's our goal this week."
Defensively, it appears Carlos Hall is out for the game. He hasn't practice because of a high ankle sprain. Tony Bua returned to the practice field this week, but he will not start. Jimmy Beasley will get the nod at outside linebacker and Sacha Lancaster will start in Hall's place at defensive end.
