UA hosting top recruits

Waco duo of Marcus Walker and Torey DeGrate visiting officially with wealth of top prospects expected to be on hand unofficially.

There are tons of high school and junior college football players scheduled to be on hand for the University of Arkansas' home football game with visiting Mississippi State Saturday at Reynolds Razorbacks Stadium.

While some of them are not being actively recruited by Arkansas, there are plenty of notables expected to be around who the Razorbacks do covet.

Waco (Texas) High cornerback Marcus Walker (5-10, 180, 4.4) and wideout-cornerback Torey DeGrate 6-0, 175, 4.5) will be the only two official visitors.

Walker is rated as the fifth best cornerback in the country by The Insiders network while DeGrate is also highly touted and hauled in 41 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Walker has already visited Florida State and has plans to also visit LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M while DeGrate is involved with the same schools with the exception of Oklahoma State instead of Oklahoma.

"We both really excited about getting up there and checking it out,"W Walker said. "It's a great school and is a place that both of us are really considering."

A pair of the country's best running backs are also scheduled to be on hand for unofficial visits with Conway fullback Peyton Hillis (6-3, 240, 4.7) and Buford (Ga.) High tailback Darius Walker (5-11, 195, 4.37) due in.

Hillis is still eying Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraksa and Tennessee while Walker has a list of about 10 schools that include Notre Dame and Stanford.

Kyle Hillis, Peyton's year-older brother who is currently a baseball player at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, will also be on hand and is a likely football-baseball player for the Razorbacks next season.

Fellow Conway players also due in are running back Kevin Wardlow (5-11,185, 4.4), offensive lineman Collin Sears (6-5, 285, 5.4) and linebacker Sam McFadin (6-1, 210, 4.7).

There are also a few players that have already made commitments to Arkansas that should be around including the Fayetteville duo of wideout Cedric Logan (6-0, 170, 4.3) and quarterback-safety Woody Wilson (6-1, 180), Texarkana defensive tackle Freddie Barnett (6-0, 300), Vidor (Texas) High cornerback Rick Culburt (6-0, 170, 4.38) and Delta (Miss.) Community College wideout Anthony Brown (6-6, 215, 4.6).

Southaven (Miss.) High offensive lineman Josh Winchell (6-5, 310), who is scheduled to visit officially in January, is among several players from his school planning on being in Fayetteville this weekend as is Sheridan's Mike Forbush (6-4, 230), a likely walk on.

Among the top juniors expected are Pulaski Oak Grove running back Darren McFadden (6-0, 195, 4.6) - who already has a scholarship offer from Arkansas - as well as Sylvan Hills defender Hezekiah Smith (5-9, 187), Bald Knob offensive lineman Justin Allen (6-5, 270) and Russellville defensive lineman Joey Crossland (6-5, 300).

Junior tight end Aaron Cummings (6-5, 200) out of Bray-Doyle High School in Marlow, Okla. , heads up some out-of-state underclassmen coming to see the contest.
