Tuesday Grid Report, 11/25

Will the Hogs have Ahmad Carroll to go against LSU's great wideouts?

Arkansas should be close to full speed for Friday's key SEC date with No. 3 LSU at Baton Rouge. Ahmad Carroll practiced in limited situations Tuesday as the Hogs finished their last heavy day of workouts.

"Batman did some things today and he should be ready," said Houston Nutt, the UA head coach. "He was moving pretty well today."

The Hogs got a scare midway through practice when Brandon Kennedy sustained a knee injury, but reports from the training room afterwards were optimistic.

"The trainers said he just tweaked the knee a bit," Nutt said. "I think we'll have him Friday. We'll know more on Wednesday, but it didn't look too bad today."

Nutt downplayed internet reports that this would be Matt Jones' final year of football. Nutt said, "You can put that one down right now. He'll be with us. There are no problems with Matt. He is going to play basketball this year. In my opinion, he is one of the top three quarterbacks to ever play at Arkansas and he will play another season of football."

With school not in session Wednesday for Thanksgiving break, Nutt said the Hogs will meet early in the day for special team meetings and then hit the practice field for a 1:30 p.m. workout that will be their last of the week. They will have Thanksgiving meal at a Springdale hotel on Thursday before flying to Baton Rouge.
