Opponent Update: UCF

Ryan Schneider hit on 13-of-22 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns as the UCF Golden Knights crushed the Akron Zips, 57-17. The Golden Knights (5-4) led 21-3 after one quarter and 50-3 at halftime en route to the blowout victory.

Alex Haynes got things going with a 15-yard touchdown scamper just 24 seconds into the game. Schneider then capitalized on a turnover by hitting Tavirus Davis with a 12-yard scoring pass to give UCF a 14-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.

Haynes then scored on a one-yard plunge at 9:57. Zac Derr hit a 32-yard field goal at 14:13 for Akron (2-7), but the Zips were down 18 points after one period.

At 1:48 of the second quarter, Haynes found the end zone on a 31-yard run, his third score of the game. UCF then recorded touchdown receptions by Davis and Jimmy Fryzel, a touchdown run by Dee Brown, and a safety to take a commanding 47-point lead into the locker room at halftime.

The only points of the third quarter came on a 66-yard touchdown pass from Akron's Charlie Frye to Jake Schifino that cut the insurmountable deficit to 50-10.

Bob Hendry found the end zone from five yards out in the fourth quarter to make the score,50-17. However, the Golden Knights capped the scoring with a 78-yard touchdown pass from Brian Miler to Thad Ward.

Haynes ran for 112 yards and scored three touchdowns on just 14 carries for UCF.

Hendry managed 129 rushing yards on 20 attempts in defeat for Akron.
