Sooners Beat Razorbacks, 69-54

Oklahoma dominated the boards and took advantage of poor shooting by Arkansas to post a 69-54 victory Friday in a game televised nationally by ESPN2.

The Sooners (3-1) had a 42-24 rebounding edge with 18 of those boards coming off the offensive end. Oklahoma turned those second-chance opportunities into 20 points.

UA (3-2) shot 34 percent in the second half and 38.9 percent for the game, and made just two of 15 three-pointers. OU shot only 44 percent, but made 13 of 24 shots in the second half to pull away.

Ebi Ere was the workhorse for OU, making 10 of 14 shots and scoring a game-high 29 points, including 18 in the second half.

Arkansas took its only lead of the game with 14:19 remaining when Larry Satchell made one of two free throws to give the Hogs a 37-36 advantage. Hollis Price, who had 15 points, answered with a three-pointer to put the Sooners back in front for good. Jannero Pargo's jumper got Arkansas within 41-39, but Oklahoma scored 14 straight points, six by Ere, to take a commanding 55-39 lead with 6:26 to play.

Dionisio Gomez was the lone bright spot for Arkansas with eight points and 11 rebounds. He's been in double figures rebounding two straight games and three of the last four. Brandon Dean added eight points, and J.J. Sullinger and Pargo seven each.

Arkansas plays host to Southwest Texas State Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in a game televised by ARSN.
