Football Wraps Up Practices

The Arkansas Razorbacks wrapped up the final practice of the first week of December with a two-hour workout in cold, breezy conditions Saturday afternoon.

The Hogs closed the practice with a scrimmage inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium followed by conditioning.

"We had a long, extensive practice today," Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. "We ended up with some scrimmage time at the end."

Nutt said the team was able to work many of second and third team players during today's scrimmage.

"Everybody got some good work in today," Nutt said. "A lot of the second and third team players got some extensive work and that was good. They got some good work in on goal line situations. This was the longest practice we have had in a long time. This was a good, hard day."

The Razorbacks will take tomorrow off from practice, but will meet as a team Nutt said.

"We're going to have a team meeting tomorrow," Nutt said. "We will keep running and lifting all the way through next week. All of the coaches will be recruiting hard on Monday, Tuesday and possible Wednesday. We'll start practicing again on Thursday, but we will do something everyday until then."

Nutt added the Razorbacks have had a solid week of workouts as they have focused on individual fundamentals and getting the younger players more repetitions.

"This has been a very valuable time for our players," Nutt said. "This is the biggest benefit of going to a bowl game. Getting to spend the time working with the younger players and working on the basics is a tremendous advantage. I'm fired up and excited about practice and the preparation that we are doing."
