Clemente knows of three visits

Arkansas is one of three teams that Denis Clemente has identified as schools he will visit with two others left to be decided.

Miami (Fla.) Calusa Prep basketball star Denis Clemente has far more options post-summer than he did pre-summer, but his leader remains the same.

That would be Arkansas, who joins Ohio State and Miami as schools that will definitely get visits this fall from the 6-1, 165-pound combo guard who is originally from Puerto Rico.

He will then also decide two other visits from among some 14 teams according to Miami Tropics AAU head coach Art Alverez, who is guiding Clemente's recruitment.

"We are just now setting up the dates, but the first visit he will take will be to Arkansas," Miami Tropics AAU head coach Art Alverez said. "They have been very loyal to him and he wants to be loyal to them. I would like for him to take all five visits, but we'll see. He may get to Arkansas and decide he wants to end it there."

Ohio State is the team that has made the biggest push over the summer according to Alverez.

"Ohio State is a school that has really jumped on Denis," Alverez said. "I would say the top two are Arkansas and Ohio State."

Alverez said Monday that he had gotten word that the Sporting News will have Clemente in its Top 30 rankings and also is planning on doing a story on his story as well.

"I think they really like Denis and think his story has a lot of flavor," Alverez said.

Clemente, who could possibly visit Arkansas Sept. 23-25, was overjoyed over his home country's big win over the United State squad at the Olympics on Sunday.

"Denis is actually in Puerto Rico right now and told me that there is a national celebration going on," Alverez said. "It is a big thing and just shows how good the basketball is in Puerto Rico these days."
