14,000 Tickets Requested in First Day

The University of Arkansas received orders for just over 14,000 tickets to the 2002 SBC Cotton Bowl in the first day following the announcement that the Razorbacks would battle the Oklahoma Sooners on New Year's Day in Dallas, Texas.

"We are extremely pleased that our fans have responded so quickly and enthusiastically," Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles said. "It is a great credit to our fans that we took 14,000 ticket orders in the first seven hours that they were available. We have fans placing orders at the ticket office, by phone and by fax. Even outside business hours, fans can fax in their orders so it is there first thing in the morning. We want to have as many Razorback fans in Dallas as we can get to cheer on our team against Oklahoma."

Tickets are $70 and may be ordered by phone through the UA ticket office at 1-800-982-HOGS (4647). In the event that ticket orders exceed the available ticket allotment, orders will be filled beginning with current UA season ticket holders.

In addition, ticket orders may be faxed to the UA ticket office using Visa, Mastercard or Discover at one of the following numbers: 501-575-8683, 501-575-4859, 501-575-8757.

Please note that fax orders should include customer name, customer number, address, daytime phone number and credit card information including expiration date. No American Express orders will be accepted.

Arkansas sold more than 30,000 tickets to the 2000 Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl. The Razorbacks defeated Texas 27-6 on Jan. 1, 2000.
