Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles remained hospitalized Friday because of an irregular heartbeat, but sports information director Kevin Trainor said the 79-year-old continues to rest comfortably.
Broyles checked into Washington Regional Medical Center on Tuesday because of the complication, known as arrhythmia, and is expected to be released in the next few days. Doctors continue to monitor Broyles, who has been hospitalized three times in the past 13 months because of an irregular heartbeat.
Broyles has been on medication to help regulate his heartbeat the past 10 years.
The recent complication is likely linked to the amount of stress Broyles has been under the past month while his wife, Barbara, fought through the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. Trainor said Broyles was at his wife's bedside for nearly a month before she passed away Oct. 13.
