Smith Getting Close

The University of Arkansas feels good about its shot at landing Florida playmaker Michael Smith, who visited Fayetteville this weekend.

Michael Smith rebounded from an injury as a junior to become a highly recruited prospect. He took an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

"I visited Arkansas this weekend," said Smith. "My host was Robert Johnson. I met with the coaches at the airport. They were there to pick me up. Friday we toured part of the campus. We got the grand tour on Saturday. I got to eat dinner at the sky box at the Stadium. The facilities are top of the line."

"Coach Nutt talked with me about football and how my visit was going. They talked about wanting a breakaway back, and that I'd be an early Christmas present for them if I were to commit."

Where does Smith stand amongst the schools recruiting him?

"I visited Purdue already. Those are my top 2 choices (Arkansas and Purdue), and that's it. I'm through taking visits. I'm going to sit down with my parents and discuss the good and the bad of each school and try to make a decision this week. I know where I want to go; I just want my parents' blessing."

This one could be over in a hurry, so keep a close eye on Scout.com.
