Houston Hotshot

Houston area wideout Catron Houston still has Arkansas on his list with two more trips left before making a decision.

Several teams are out, two more got good marks for their hospitality and two more still have a chance to make an impression on Houston area prep football standout Catron Houston.

Houston (5-11,185), a tailback/wide receiver for Spring Woods High, has already visited Texas Tech and Arkansas and will trek to TCU (Jan. 14-16) and then Tulane (Jan. 21-23) before making a decision.

"I am still very open about my choice," Houston said. "No one leads. I'll take these last two visits and then sit down, go over all the good and bad things about each one and then make a call."

Houston scored 22 times this season - 13 via the rush and 9 via the air.

Houston averaged over 10.3 yards per carry while rolling up 930 yards rushing and also caught 30 passes for 621 yards - meaning he averaged over 20 yards per reception.

"We put me a lot of different places just trying to get the best matchups," Houston said. "Usually it worked out."

Texas A&M had been high on his list, but they got a commitment from a wideout and so they are full up at his position and he also canceled a visit to Kansas State. He had earlier visited Arizona State, but they also are no longer an option.

Texas Tech intrigues him with their air attack according to Houston.

"They throw the ball all the time and I'm a wide receiver so that kind of offense really makes me think about playing in it," Houston said.

His most recent official trip was to Arkansas on Dec. 3-5.

"That was a great place," Houston said. "They have great facilities and I really love their coaches. I'm still very interested in them."
