Townes hopped off the court after the injury but did some walking on it while his teammates finished up their workout.
Townes is averaging 8.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, but had really come on in the six games since finals break with 13.6 points per game and a career-high 20 against Tennessee State on Dec. 16.
Townes is also third in the Southeastern Conference in blocks with 2.1 per game.
Heath wanted to wait until today's report from trainer Dave England before making any estimation of what Townes' status would be for the SEC opener against Ole Miss on Wednesday.
"I'm not going to even think about it until Dave gives me an idea," Heath said. "I'm not going to give it much thought until Dave tells me where he is, what he can do, what his limitations are or if he can play."
