The University of Arkansas has put the only scholarship offer on the table for North Little Rock cornerback Jamar Love (6-2, 190, 4.41) , but he's expecting another one in the near future.
That would from South Carolina, a school he will take an official visit to on Jan. 21-23 and then follow that with a visit to Arkansas on Jan. 28-30.
"Those are really the only two schools I have an interest in right now," Love said. "There were some others involved but I have decided that my choice will be one of those two."
Love got a home visit from Razorback head coach Houston Nutt and running backs coach Danny Nutt on Wednesday.
"They did a really good job of coming in here and making me feel wanted after I wasn't so sure they did," Love said. "There were kind of hot and cold with me, but are sure they want me now. Coach Houston Nutt did say the player they saw at their camp this year and the one they saw on film were two different players."
By all reports, Love had a better junior season than he did a senior one and that caused some schools to drop off of him.
"We started off fast, but didn't finish the year as strong as we should have," Love said. "I think that's probably the case with me as well."
The Nutts made it clear to Love that new Razorback defensive coordinator Reggie Herring has made it clear that Love is the kind of player he wants to sign for the secondary.
"He's suppose to be down here in two weeks or so and I look forward to meeting him," Love said. "I can tell he wants me from talking to Coach Nutt."
South Carolina began showing interest when former Razorback standout and coach Madre Hill was named the running backs coach by new Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier.
"Coach Hill was in my home the night after he got hired and they have made me feel very wanted," Love said. "They haven't offered me a scholarship yet, but they are talking about doing so when I visit. They are also talking about letting me play offense, too and that's got me excited."
"Well, I would have to say South Carolina right now because of the chance to play both offense and defense," Love said. "I'll take these two visits and then just do what's best."
