ScoutTV Presents a Top Southern QB

The Class of 2004 was loaded with quarterbacks in the South players that signed with Major Division 1 Schools leaving the Class of 2005 relatively slim. The early indications for the Class of 2006 is that the quarterback position is back, and Springdale, Arkansas' Mitch Mustain is a reason why. See him in action in this presentation by ScoutTV.

Quarterback Mitch Mustain leads a powerful Springdale team by putting pressure on the defense across the entire field. Mustain shows a nice touch on swing passes, screens to the side and middle of the field, and he puts a lot of zip on his quick outs, hitches, and slant routes. All of the underneath passes that Springdale uses with Mustain just lull the defense to sleep when he then unleashes the big arm that can easily throw it 60 yards.

Mustain not only can beat a team with every throw in the book, he isn't afraid to tuck it and run as he did on a quarterback draw against Evangel Christian to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.

He has excellent size, and as stated, he can make all of the throws. Last season --his first as a starter --Mustain threw for 2,164 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Bulldogs, completing 139 of 222 (63 percent) of his passes. He also rushed for 333 yards and 14 touchdowns on 70 carries -- all while only playing in limited action of most games while the Bulldogs were mercy-ruling 10 of their opponents.

He will be one of several heavily recruited quarterbacks in the south this year. See him in action in this presentation from ScoutTV*.
