Arkansas sports information director Kevin Trainor said no timetable has been set for Jackson's return and declined to offer specifics. However, Trainor confirmed that Jackson has been suspended and will likely miss spring drills, which begin Monday.
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt couldn't be reached for comment Thursday.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Jackson also was suspended from spring drills in 2004 after an off-season arrest for driving under the influence. Nutt told Jackson to clean out his locker and leave the team, but reinstated him after spring practices ended.
Jackson, a Monticello native, started nine games at wolf linebacker in 2004 and finished seventh on the team with 39 tackles. Jackson, who played in six games as a true freshman in 2002, has 57 tackles and 1 sack in his career.
