Hicks, who initially pleaded innocent during a court appearance last week, was scheduled for trial in West Fork on Tuesday night. But both sides agreed to a settlement before the trial and Hicks was ordered to pay $100 in fines and $100 in court costs his attorney, Woody Bassett, said.
The public intoxication citation won't appear on Hicks' record.
Hicks was a passenger in a car pulled over for moving "erratically" in a West Fork park on April 19. The driver, Stephen Sprick, was arrested for driving under the influence. Hicks and another passenger were arrested for public intoxication.
Last week, coach Houston Nutt said he was waiting for a resolution in the case before deciding on a "course of action" for Hicks. Nutt said Hicks' teammate, defensive end Clarke Moore, could lose his scholarship after being arrested and cited for driving under the influence in March.
A Farmington spokesperson said Moore was ordered to pay $575 for his arrest. Moore was fined $200 for driving under the influence, $25 for driving left of center and must pay $350 in court costs.
Both Hicks and Moore were listed fourth on the post-spring depth chart at tight end and defensive end, respectively.
