Mustian Invited to Elite 11

Springdale quarterback Mitch Mustain gets a coveted invitation to participate in the EA Sports Elite 11 quarterback competition July 25-28 in Mission Viejo, Calif.

A busy upcoming summer for Springdale quarterback Mitch Mustain got a little busier Tuesday night when the senior-to-be was invited to one of the nation's top quarterback camps.

Mustain (6-3, 195), who has already received 25 scholarship honors, was invited to the seventh annual EA Sports Elite 11 Competition, becoming the second quarterback in the country so far to be invited to the event.

The event, both a camp and a competition, will be held July 25-28 in Mission Viejo, Calif., and it will provide 11 of the nation's top quarterbacks to receive instruction from top coaches and college counselors.

Mustain tried out for the event at a Nike Camp in Mississippi last weekend and he received a phone call Tuesday evening with his invitation said Beck Campbell, Mustain's mother.

"I'm pretty excited," Mustain said. "It should be a lot of fun.

"I think it will be kind of set up like the quarterback challenge we did (in Springdale) last year, only on a national scale," Mustain said. "It will be a lot of fun to get out there with some other quarterbacks and forget about the recruiting stuff for a while."

Mustain is already headed to Los Angeles two weeks prior to the camp with his Springdale teammates for a seven-on-seven competition at USC.
