Washington Commits To Hoop Hogs

Cleveland (Texas) Heritage Christian Academy's Mike Washington has committed to the University of Arkansas basketball team, giving Stan Heath's Razorbacks their first verbal commitment for the 2006 class.

Washington, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound power forward formerly of McGehee, averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks per game as a junior and is listed as the No. 71 prospect nationally by Scout.com. in the class of 2006.

Despite moving to Texas for his high school ball, Washington still plays AAU basketball with the Arkansas Wings.

Wings assistant coach Antonio Moore confirmed with Hawgs Illustrated's Dudley Dawson that Washington had committed to the Razorbacks after taking a recent visit.

"Yes, it's true," Moore said. "We're driving back from up there right now after visiting."

Washington chose Arkansas over the likes of North Carolina, Illinois, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Baylor, among others.
