A Wanted Meeks

Arkansas remains in the running for Georgia prep combo guard Jodie Meeks (6-4, 185), who is at the Reebok ABCD Camp this week in Teaneck, N.J.

Soon after his summer basketball season, Norcross (Ga.) prep star Jodie Meeks will sit down with his dad and coach and decided who the lucky ones will be that get official visits from him.

Sounds like the University of Arkansas - a place the 6-4, 185-pound combo guard visited for the Real Deal on the Hill AAU tournament back in May - has a great shot at being one of them.

"It was great there," Meeks said of Arkansas. "I really liked their facilities, the campus and the weather. It was the first time I had been up there and I was very, very impressed with what they have to offer in regards to academics and athletics."

Arkansas joins schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson and Colorado as just a few of the programs that are on Meeks.

"I am still pretty wide open," Meeks said. "My dad and coach and I will narrow things down after July. I'm not really in any hurry and just want to make the right decision."

"Obviously playing time is important to me, but that doesn't necessarily mean starting," Meeks said. "I would just like to be able to go somewhere I can play as a freshman and help contribute to winning."

Meeks, who prides himself on playing a team-first game, notes he has tried his best to play in games that are more individualistic at Reebok.

He was averaging 8.4 points and 2.6 rebounds through five games with his best day being Thursday when he scored 12 in the afternoon game and 15 in an evening contest.

"I've done pretty good," Meeks said, "but there is not a lot of passing up here. I'm just trying to play my game and play hard and not get caught up in everything."
