Sheppard's Almost in Fold

Georgia defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard (6-3, 260) says he is planning on committing to Arkansas on Wednesday when Razorback assistant Chris Vaughn visits his home.

One day after saying he'd commit to Arkansas in all likelihood, Bainbridge, Ga., defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard seems set to commit to the Razorbacks on Wednesday.

Sheppard (6-3, 260, 4.6) talked with his family about the decision today before heading to work and they're behind him. He's just waiting for an in-home visit from Chris Vaughn on Wednesday to make it official.

Sheppard spent most of his weekend in Fayetteville lounging, playing NCAA Football on the X-Box with Mike Smith, who he played against in high school.

"We were basically just playing the X-Box and eating," Sheppard said. "I loved that food.

"It was fun; I liked the players, had a good time with the players."

Sheppard was glad to see a familiar face in Fayetteville.

"I talked to (Smith) a couple of times when I was a junior and knew who he was from the moment I stepped in," Sheppard said. "I was on the same page I was. ... That's what made everything fun and comfortable for me."

Sheppard was also impressed with Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

"I really got hyped up on the stadium," Sheppard said. "I've never seen a stadium like that so far."

Sheppard also has visits scheduled to Central Florida, UAB and Southern Miss., but will likely cancel those after making a commitment.

"My job is to rush the quarterback," Sheppard said. "I choose a lane and go straight at it. I don't run around offensive linemen, I kind of run through them. I just like to be a bull rusher."
